Cookie Policy
Last updated 27 August 2026
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies HuntPeople sets and what each one is for. It names every cookie the product uses and says why that cookie has to exist.
Why there is no consent banner
Consent banners exist to get your permission before something non-essential runs. We do not have anything non-essential. Every cookie below is strictly necessary, and removing any one of them breaks something in the product. Since there is nothing to opt in or out of, you may still see a one-time notice pointing you to this page. It is a notice, not a consent request. Dismissing it does set one of the cookies listed below, because that is the only way we can remember your answer across both halves of the site and stop asking.
If we ever add analytics or anything that follows you off this site, you will get a banner and a real choice before it runs, and this page will say so.
The five
hp_session
Keeps you signed in. It holds a random token, not your details, and the server only stores a hashed copy of it, so the cookie cannot be read back into an account by anyone who takes it from our database. Your browser will not hand it to scripts. It lasts as long as your session and is deleted when you sign out.
active_team
Remembers which of your teams you are currently working in, so switching team sticks between visits. It holds a team ID, and the server checks you are a member of that team on every request rather than trusting the cookie. Lasts a year.
sidebar_state
Remembers whether you collapsed the sidebar. Holds the word open or closed. Lasts a week.
dev_mode
Only ever set on a HuntPeople staff account, and only when a staff member turns on the internal view. Holds on or off. Lasts a year.
cookie_notice
Remembers that you have read the notice about cookies, so it is not shown to you again on the other half of the site. It holds one word, and nothing about you. It lasts a year.
Cookies set by other companies
When you pay us, the card form is handled by Stripe rather than by us, and Stripe sets its own cookies on that form to detect fraud. We never see your card number and we do not control those cookies. Stripe publishes its own cookie policy.
Other than that, nothing on this site is loaded from a company that would like to know who you are.
Turning them off
Your browser can block or clear cookies for this site at any time. Blocking them means you cannot stay signed in, so the product will not work, but nothing bad happens to your account: sign in again and it comes back.
